Here is a list of things that I watched/listened to/read this past week:

Movies:

Minimalism: A Film About the Important Things – I discovered the Minimalist podcast (below) and they mentioned their documentary on Netflix so I checked it out.  Not too bad but not amazing.  My favorite quote (which is sort of their mantra): “Love people and use things because the opposite never works.”

Books:

I have a few in various stages but didn’t finish any this past week.

Podcast Episodes:

The Minimalists #42 – Creating – “In this episode of The Minimalists Podcast, Joshua & Ryan talk about creativity, craft, passion, and different types of creative work.” Meh, not amazing.

Horizon Line – Smokejumper – A GREAT podcast from Atlas Obscura.  There are only 4 episodes right now but I’m hoping that they’ll keep it going.  This episode tells the story of legendary smokejumper Rod Dow.  My favorite episode is #3 “The Mountaineer” which tells the story of Tenzing Norgay, the sherpa that summited everest with Edmund HIllary.

TED Radio Hour:

Branding over Brain – “Brands help us assign value to almost everything we buy. But is there a way to know the difference between real and created value? In this episode, TED speakers explore the seductive power of brands.” – This one is pretty good.  A must listen for entrepreneurs or marketers.

Believers and Doubters – “In this hour, TED speakers offer perspectives on belief from all ends of the spectrum, from atheists to the devout.” – Meh, ok.

Radio Lab – Lose Lose – “No matter what sport you play, the object of the game is to win. And that’s hard enough to do. But we found a match where four top athletes had to do the opposite in one of the most high profile matches of their careers….”  Pretty interesting.

How I Built This:

I’m not sure how it’s taken me this long to discover this podcast. Guy Raz talks to founders of different companies who tell their stories.  I listened to the following two episodes. They’re great!
